What is a distributed architecture?
Like most websites, information is stored on a server, which is essentially only a computer containing a database storing the information on the website. All information and the site disappear if this computer is corrupted. The same database is made available with blockchain technology across a large number of individual devices, rendering all of the information available in the database public and unable to be censored as long as computers are still serving the data. Some of the most popular implementations that have ever existed: Napster, Limewire, and BitTorrent. In brief – this implies that a massive and decentralized network of many individual devices run by volunteers, like yourself and me around the globe, is replaced by centralized corporate mega systems operated in the cloud.
